The Oklahoma City Zoo

We went to the zoo for a little bit one morning before it got too hot.

We first went to a Seal show that was really well put together. They had 3 seals come out each doing different tricks. It was about the perfect length for kids.

A Saturday Adventure

Well there was a horse rider competition at the fairgrounds so we went to a little bit of it. It was interesting at the parking lot because it was a sea of trucks there. I think there was only 3 of us not in one (although I did enter in a drawing to win a truck :)

Afterwords we were going to stop by a place called Stockyard City but it wasn't all that impressive, so we kept on driving. Somehow we ended up at the botanical gardens. They had some pretty flowers, plants, and a fun children's garden. After playing there for a bit we found a little water wading pool that the children soaked themselves in.

The weirdest flower I saw there with purple leaves

Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge

For the 4th of July we decided to go on a hike. Since there's not very many high hills around here we took a trip a little over an hour south west from Oklahoma City to a big game wild life refuge. They have bison, elk, and long horn texas cattle. They have some other things such as birds and prairie dogs.

We went to a very nice visitor center, went on a short hike to a lake and stuck our feet in, then had a fun pick-nick and drove to the top of one of the mountains for a nice lookout vista.

There weren't very many flowers, this was the best one I found, sorry... ok there were some pretty flowers off to the side of the road but I didn't feel like stopping.

Yea! Finally got a shot of a cardinal up close!

The Spray Ground

For some reason all the pools were locked up at our apartment complex so for FHE we went to the spray park. Here's some picts:

Land Run Monument

I don't know all of the history but in 1889 2 million acres were opened to anyone who wanted up to 160 acres for free. The opening day 50,000 people showed up and the race was on. Oklahoma city made a nice monument with a bunch of statues.

Ahh! Don't get me! (I didn't realize I was covering Jenna's face)

Lydia being silly

nope, no rain
