Graduation

I have graduated from college (again - yea!) I finished up the last of my classes for an AA in Air Traffic Control and Airline Dispatch. The next step is to get my flight dispatch license, which I plan on getting the beginning of January.

Sheila surprised me by making homemade brownies and adding a touch of class with a toy airplane. Matt wanted his car to be on the brownies, so that's on there as well. Lydia (and Sheila) created a nice big sign.

Thanksgiving Tree

Sheila came up with an idea of creating a Thanksgiving Tree. We found a small branch and sheila made some blank leaves. Then every day we wrote something that we were thankful for and then tied it to the "tree".

We had  a Stake Christmas activity where we dressed up and had our pictures taken.

We had an enjoyable thanksgiving at Sheila's parents house. It was fun to take a little vacation and not not really do a lot.

Let it snow

A little bit before Thanksgiving we got some snow. Normally we don't get snow here, and it snowed enough to make a snowman

Happy Halloween!!

This year for Halloween Lydia was little red ridding hood, Matt was a Lion, and I was Captain Hook (captain's hat with a hook... kinda lame, I know but I still got a kick out of it and ended up with a pilot's hat :)

We went to our ward's trunk or treat on Friday night and got a bunch of candy. It's just about all gone now, which we aren't too sad about. There was one trick or treater that came by our place tonight so far, so pretty quiet over in our apartment, except that Matt has yet to fall asleep (been in his crib for an hour, and he likes to throw everything in out.

And for a delicious Halloween dinner we had none other but worm burgers. A delightfully disgusting looking dinner. Just take hot dogs, cut them into thirds (well, 9ths - you could also do 4ths), boil them in water for a bit, add some bbq sauce. Now doesn't that look good to eat? Sheila couldn't look at at the burger and eat it at the same time.

Lydia and Matthew had fun coloring the pumpkins and I had fun gutting them (for some reason they didn't want to get their fingers all slimy.)

 

Then we made some yummy spider cookies that Michelle shared with the fam. The Halloween cookies were all gone so we ended up using the chocolate filled ones. FYI, pull & peel twizzlers don't taste the best when eaten the same time as the cookie... not quite the same as milk.

Cotton Candy

Lydia's school had a fall festival this past week. I didn't really get any good pictures, but I did get one of cotton candy. I learned that my kids didn't like cotton candy that much as Sheila and I ended up eating most of it. But not to worry as I still like it.

Date Night at the Tacoma Museum of Glass

It's not often that Sheila and I get a chance to go on dates, but we got the chance to get away to go to the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, WA. The third Thursday of every month they have a free night, so we went for about an hour and a half.

While we were there they were making a glass sculpture so you could see how it is done. It's a very tedious and interesting process. We only stayed for part as we didn't have a lot of time to stay at the museum.

 

I couldn't take pictures of the different sculptures on display. Some of them were really neat, but most of them were kinda weird. I didn't take the two pictures above.

Outside they had some more glass sculptures that I could take pictures of. These ones are really neat as they light up at night, and the darker it gets the more lights there are.

Picking Pumpkins

Ok, we actually didn't pick any pumpkins (we already bought some) but we did lots of other stuff including a petting zoo, hay bail maze, slide, tractor rides, corn kernel thing (like the ball area in McDonnald's), and a kid play area. We met up with Sheila's brother Josh and his family before they took off to move to Indiana.
